Welcome to NextUp
NextUp, also known as CAFYES (Cooperating Agencies Foster Youth Educational Support), provides community college students like you with resources that make a difference. The program offers eligible current and former foster youth support and services that could include help with books and supplies, transportation, tutoring, food, and emergency housing. The program is housed within the existing community college programs for educationally disadvantaged students, known as Extended Opportunity Programs and Services (EOPS).
NextUp Program Eligibility:
Students must meet all of the following:

Current or former foster youth whose dependency was established or continued by the court on or after 13th birthday

Under 26 years old at the start of the academic year or previously in the NextUp program at another community college

Enrolled in at least 9 units or more (students in less than 9 students may be accepted into the program if the intent is to enroll in 9 units in a primary semester)
NextUp Program Services:
NextUp provides extra academic support to meet the unique needs of current or former foster youth students. NextUp assists with:
- Priority registration
- Academic and personal counseling
- Textbook assistance
- Weekly grocery cards
- Transportation assistance
- School supplies
- Childcare stipends
- Unmet need grants
- Food assistance
- And more based on program funding
