Welcome to EOPS
The Extended Opportunity Programs and Services (EOPS) is a state-funded program designed to provide academic support, financial assistance, and encouragement for eligible low-income and educationally disadvantaged students.
The primary goal of EOPS is to encourage the enrollment, retention, and transfer of students disadvantaged by language, social, economic, and educational barriers, and to facilitate the successful completion of their goals and objectives in college.
EOPS Program Eligibility:
Students must meet all of the following:
- California resident, AB 540, or an active military service member
- Enrolled as a full-time student each Fall and Spring semester (12 or more units)
- Qualify for the California College Promise Grant (CCPG) A or B or C with a zero Expected Family Contribution (EFC)
- Have a GPA of 1.5 or higher when applying and a 2.0 semester GPA to remain in the program
- Have less than 70 degree-applicable units completed at any college or university (students who have completed an associate's or bachelor's degree are not eligible for the program)
- Be educationally disadvantaged as defined by the State Chancellor's Office (once you apply, staff will verify)
EOPS Program Services:
The services provided to EOPS students are over and above and in addition to services available to all Barstow Community College students. Additional EOPS services include:
- Priority registration
- Academic and personal counseling
- Textbook loaners from the EOPS lending library
- Book vouchers
- Educational workshops
- Transportation assistance
- Grocery cards
- Childcare stipends
- School supplies
- UC/CSU application fee waivers
- Honors Society fee waivers
- Free graduation cap and gown
- First aid/CPR course fee waiver
