Welcome to the Military & Veterans Programs (MVP) at Barstow Community College (BCC). By applying for and participating in MVP services, you agree to the following Terms of Service. Please read this agreement carefully.
Eligibility
To apply and participate in the Military & Veterans Programs (MVP) at BCC, you must meet one or more of the following criteria:
- Active duty service members
- Veterans with an honorable or general discharge
- Dependents of veterans (as defined by the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs)
- National Guard or Reserve members
- Transitioning service members
- Other qualified individuals, as determined by BCC MVP staff
Application Process
All students applying to the MVP must complete the official MVP application form and provide all necessary supporting documentation, which may include:
- Proof of military service (e.g., DD214)
- VA benefits documentation
- Academic transcripts (if applicable)
- Any other documents requested by the MVP team
Applications must be submitted within the designated timeframes for each academic term. Failure to provide accurate or complete information may result in delays or denial of services.
Services Provided
The MVP offers various services, including but not limited to:
- Academic counseling and advising
- Assistance with VA education benefits (e.g., GI Bill)
- Support services specific to veterans, active military, and their dependents
- Access to the Veterans Resource Center (VRC)
- Career and job placement assistance
- Mental health and wellness resources
Services are provided as resources allow and are subject to change based on funding, staff availability, and college priorities.
Code of Conduct
Students are expected to adhere to the BCC Student Code of Conduct and MVP program policies, including but not limited to:
- Respectful interaction with MVP staff, students, and community members
- Timely communication with MVP advisors, particularly concerning academic or personal issues that may impact your participation
- Maintaining good academic standing as outlined by BCC’s academic policies
Violation of this Code of Conduct may result in suspension or termination of MVP services.
Use of Benefits
Students utilizing VA or other military-related education benefits must ensure compliance with the following:
- Timely submission of all required documentation (e.g., VA certifications)
- Accurate reporting of enrollment status, credit load, and any changes that may affect eligibility for benefits
- Attendance and satisfactory academic progress (as defined by VA regulations and BCC policies)
Misuse of VA benefits or failure to comply with VA regulations may result in termination of benefits and/or services provided by MVP.
Data Privacy
The MVP is committed to protecting your personal information. By applying for services, you agree that BCC may collect, use, and share your information for the purpose of providing services, including communication with the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs, other government agencies, and relevant college departments. Your data will be handled in accordance with BCC’s privacy policies and federal regulations such as FERPA (Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act).
Limitation of Liability
The Military & Veterans Programs at BCC are offered as a resource to support students in their academic and personal endeavors. However, BCC and the MVP make no guarantees regarding service availability and all services are contingent on program funding.
Termination of Services
BCC reserves the right to modify or terminate MVP services at any time for reasons including, but not limited to:
- Non-compliance with these Terms of Service
- Misuse of VA or other benefits
- Lack of funding or staffing
- Violation of BCC’s Student Code of Conduct
Students will be notified in writing of any changes affecting their participation in MVP services.
Amendments
BCC reserves the right to amend these Terms of Service at any time. Any changes will be posted on the BCC Military & Veterans Programs website and communicated to students via official college channels. Continued participation in MVP services after posted changes will constitute acceptance of the amended Terms of Service.
