College Holiday Events

Barstow, CA – Upcoming holiday events at Barstow Community College (BCC) during the first week of December:

Tuesday, Dec. 1st – from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. the 14th Annual Festival of Lights and Learning will take place in the Parks Gymnasium on campus. No admission charged, $1 for photo with Santa Claus. More than 30 vendors will be offering their wares, and the entertainment will be going all evening. Artists include: Raggle Taggle (a professional tour group from San Diego) playing holiday music from around the world featuring an eclectic mix of Celtic Songs, Jazz Music, Traditional Christmas, Hanukkah, and Santa Claus tunes; the Silver Valley High School Choir; Joyful Noise Children’s Choir; the First Baptist Chi Alpha Choir; Sights & Sounds of Christmas Community Choir; the Studio M Dance company; Joe Cruz; and the BCC College Choir and Chamber Singers. Everyone (including children) is invited to come see the lights and enjoy the festivities.

Wednesday, Dec. 2nd – at 7:00 p.m. the BCC Concert Band will have its annual Winter Concert. The concert will take place in the BCC Performing Arts Center. For more information, email rmoreno@barstow.edu. Admission is free!

Friday, Dec. 4th – at 7:00 p.m. the BCC Music Department will be presenting its annual Holiday Choral Concert in the BCC Performing Arts Center Lobby. Admission is $4 general and $3 for students and seniors. Children under 5 not admitted. This concert features BCC's College Choir and Chamber Singers. Get in the spirit of the season! Saturday, Dec. 5th – at 8:00 p.m. Lightwire Theater will present, “A Very Electric Christmas” in the BCC Performing Arts Center. The story of a bird named Max brings a whole new meaning to coming "home for the holidays." Performed in complete darkness, this creative storyline features Nutcracker soldiers with candy- canes, naughty Rats, an electric Christmas tree surrounded by presents, glow worms, dancing flowers and other creatures that light up the stage. "A Very Electic Christmas" is a wonderful opportunity to bring families together and start a new holiday tradition. Audiences of all ages will enjoy the timeless Christmas classics including songs from Nat King Cole, Tchaikovsky, Mariah Carey and of course a few surprises along the way. General Admission is $25 per person. Tickets are available online at www.barstow.edu Not recommended for children under 5.

Monday, Dec. 7th – at 7:00 p.m. the BCC Jazz Band will have its annual Winter Concert. The concert will take place in the BCC Performing Arts Center. For more information, email rmoreno@barstow.edu. Admission is free!
