Articulation at Barstow Community College
What is Articulation?
Articulation is a process that links two educational institutions to help students make a smooth transition from the community college to a four-year institution. Courses at the community college are identified as equivalent/comparable to the course(s) at the four-year institution, which enables students to fulfill a university requirement by taking an identified equivalent/comparable course (articulated course) at the community college.
In some cases, courses are only articulated (identified) as elective courses. Though the units may transfer, the course does NOT fulfill a general education or major preparatory requirement. Barstow Community College has articulation agreements with various institutions of higher education. They include the University of California (UC), California State University (CSU), and private and out-of-state colleges and universities.
Memorandum of Understanding and Transfer Guides
Memorandums of Understanding (MOU) are signed agreements between two institutions (typically a community college and a four-year institution). MOUs typically outline additional perks that students may qualify for, such as application fee waivers, admission guarantees, special consideration for discounted tuition or scholarships and more! Be sure to read through the MOUs below for complete details.
Transfer Guides outline required coursework at the transfer institution and the equivalent courses at Barstow Community College. Always work with your counselor on determining admission requirements.
