Adding or Dropping Classes ✍️
To add or drop classes, students must go to the Registration Area. Students who are not officially registered or who are auditing a class are not allowed to attend. Step-by-step tutorials for adding and dropping classes are available.
Dropping Classes: ❌
If a student needs to drop a class, it is their responsibility to officially withdraw from the class. Do not rely on an instructor to drop you.
Registering/Adding a Class 📝
Priority Registration (to the Friday before class begins):
- No instructor authorization is required. ✅
- If a class is closed, students can add their name to the waitlist. 📋
- If space becomes available, the waitlist will automatically send an email notification to the student’s registered email address. 📧
- Students will have 72 hours to complete the registration process after receiving the notification. If they fail to register within this time frame, their name will be removed from the waitlist. ⏰
1st Day of Class to Last Day to Add:
- Students will need an add authorization code from the instructor. 🔑
- The last official day to add a class is 14 calendar days for 18-week (full semester) classes and 7 calendar days for 9-week courses. 📅
Waitlist Process 📋
- Once a class is closed, students can add their names to the waitlist until it becomes full or until the Friday before the class begins, whichever comes first. ⏳
- If a student drops the class, the first person on the waitlist will receive an automated email with registration instructions. They will have 72 hours to add the class. ⏰
- If the first student does not register within 72 hours, they will be removed from the waitlist, and the next student will be notified. 🔄
- After the class begins, only instructors can add students to their classes, using add authorization codes. 🧑🏫
- Students should attend the first day of class to obtain an add authorization code if allowed by the instructor. 🎒
- If students miss the 72-hour window or were unable to add their name to the waitlist due to it being full, they should attend the first day of class. If space is available, the instructor may issue an add authorization code. ✔️
Dropping a Class 🚫
The specific drop dates for each class are listed under the student’s Schedule and Account Information, available by logging into the student account. For a step-by-step tutorial, visit www.barstow.edu/register/schdbill.pdf. Keep in mind that drop dates for short-term classes may only be 1 day after the start of the class. ⏳
It is the student’s responsibility to review the drop dates for all registered classes by checking the Schedule & Billing Statement. 🧐
Drop Deadlines and Refunds 💸
