Evaluation Process
For any California Community College, AP Scores, DANTES, or CLEP Scores the evaluation process should be completed within 2-4 weeks* of receipt of the official transcripts in your student account. Please be aware a notification will be sent once evaluation has taken place to review your records, and set a counseling appointment for an up to date education plan.
For any accredited college that is not a California Community College, the evaluation process will begin by speaking to a counselor. This appointment will give a preliminary review of applicable credit, and provide a tentative education plan with ideas of how the transfer courses will work towards your declared degree or certificate. Once the appointment is completed the evaluation process will take 4-6 weeks* for the credit to be applied to your Barstow Community College transcripts.
For Foreign transcripts, students will need to contact an evaluation service to translate and evaluate credit based on the United States Standards. Barstow Community College recommends student to use the following website to locate and evaluation provider for foreign transcripts: https://www.naces.org/members. Once the translated transcripts are received the student will need to set a counseling appointment for an initial review of applicable credit. Once the credit is reviewed the evaluation should populate on the student’s Barstow Community College transcripts within 6-8 weeks*.
Joint Service Transcripts are requested by the student and typically reviewed during a counseling appointment with a counselor. This appointment will determine what credit can be granted from Military Training based on the American Council on Education recommendations. Please be aware that up to 30 units of credit can be applied based on the JST evaluation. JST Evaluations are posted to the student’s account within 3 weeks* of the counseling appointment.
*Evaluation time periods may vary based on peak seasons or in times of high volume inquiries to Admissions and Records.
